Why is your company named Banderas Catering?


"Banderas" is Spanish for flags. We named our company Banderas because Chef Evelyn Santiago specializes in creating mouthwatering dishes from all around the world. Banderas flies the flag of flavor and brings culinary adventure to your table.

How does your personal chef and catering service work?


Take a look at our sample menus. Then contact us to find out more about how we can create the ultimate personalized dining experience for you and your guests. Our personal chef  will provide a free consultation. If it’s a match made in culinary heaven, Chef Evelyn Santiago will create a customized menu for your event.

What happens during a consultation with the chef?


We listen to you. You tell us what type of culinary service you need:  dinner for two, catering, cooking classes, weekly or monthly dinner plans, or menu planning for your special event.


We’ll ask some important questions. For example, if you need a private chef for a special event, we’ll ask you tell us more about your request. Is it a birthday celebration? Anniversary dinner? Romantic date? Graduation celebration? Wedding rehearsal dinner?

How many people do you expect at your event?


Where will we be providing you with services? Home? Business? Venue - catering hall, hotel ballroom, church?


What type of event are you hosting? Brunch? Luncheon? Dinner? Casual? Formal? Elegant?


What kind of food would you and your guests like to eat? Finger Foods? Appetizers? Vegetarian? Omnivore?


Any allergies  or dietary restrictions we should know about? Nuts? Shellfish? Soy products? Gluten? Dairy?

What’s included with your personal chef service?


Shopping, cooking, plating and cleaning. After you made your menu selection, the chef will shop for all the  freshest, highest quality ingredients you need for your special event. On the day of the event, the chef will arrive at your location, prepare for a delicious meal for you, plate your dish, and the clean the kitchen and prep areas. It will be as if she was never there, but you won’t forget the flavors you experienced.

Do I have to select a pre-designed menu?


No. You tell us where your tastebuds want to go. You can choose one of our international cuisine menus or request a personalized menu. During the consultation, we will listen to your menu ideas and create a customized menu proposal for your event.

Do you charge a fee for a chef or catering consultation?


No. Our consultations are free of charge.

If I call or meet you for a consultation, do I have to select you for my event?


No, but we hope you will. Even if you have a consultation with Chef Evelyn, there is no obligation to hire Banderas Catering for your event.

Does the chef visit my location before the event?


If our chef will be cooking in your home or an event venue, she may request to schedule a meeting for a kitchen assessment. This will help us to know what we have to work with in your home and what we need to bring to the party.

How much time do you need before an event?


Banderas requires a minimum of three days advance notice to make a reservation for your event. We also require a minimum of three hours in the kitchen or staging area of your event. Please make sure someone is on site to let the chef onto the premises.

How long will the chef be in my kitchen?


Great meals take time to prepare and Chef Evelyn prepares your meals from scratch.  It really depends on the selected menu, agreed schedule and the type of function. For example, a private event for two can be three to four hours from cooking to cleaning.  Catering a buffet or family dinners can take as long as to six to eight hours depending on the numbers of meals to be prepared for the day/week or buffet or family style set up that is arranged for that day.

Do you use my plates or do you bring plates?


It depends on the size of your event, Whether it is a meal for two, family style dining or buffet set up. Either way is fine with us. Just let us know if you would like us to bring plates, glasses, beverage dispensers or utensils.

Do you plate the dishes or serve buffet or family style?


We can do either. Let us know if you want us to plate the dishes for you and your guests or set up the meal buffet style or family style.

Do you serve the dishes or bring servers?


The chef does not provide servers or serve the dishes for large parties. The chef will plate the dish for you and your guests if it is a small party.

Do I pay the chef in advance?


We require a 50% deposit in advance in order to confirm your reservation. We collect the balance due the day of your event.

What payment methods do you accept?


We accept cash and all major credit cards and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover. We accept checks for the initial deposit, however the balance must be paid in cash or by credit card on the day of your event.

Do you accept payments on your website?


We do not accept payments on our website at this time. We accept payments over the phone and on site through Square, a secure mobile payment processor.

Do I tip the chef?


Tips are welcomed and appreciated, but not required.

What if I need to cancel my event or class?


We understand emergencies and unexpected life events happen. You may cancel within 72 hours of your event. However, there is no refund of deposits for events cancelled with less than 72 hours prior notice. Cooking classes can be re-scheduled.
